Why the name "Beehive"?
The Beehive model is based upon the life of the Bumblebee. A typical nest has 50-200 bees per hive. This quantity serves as an ideal function for a strong communal structure. Beehives, specifically the Bumblebee nest, are always constructed by a single queen bee, who upon emerging from winter hibernation, collects pollen and nectar from flowers and searches for a suitable nesting site. Everything these bees produce are healthy : bee pollen, honey, royal jelly and are considered "a whole food";. Man can actually live a healthy life cycle by consuming just bee pollen!
The Beehive modality of only having 150 members is from a popular marketing book called The Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell. I'm what he refers to in this book as a 'Connector'.
